Dropping Pounds While Having Fun?

As a woman in her mid (well I guess a little more than mid) 30’s it’s easy to pack on some extra pounds and not even notice it until it is too late. The reason I say too late is, Ladies it takes a little more to jump start our systems to lose the extra pounds after we are over the 35 hump. Yes one of the wonderful changes we get to experience is a change in our metabolisms, which makes it easier for us to put on the extra pounds but harder for us to take them off.
So a couple of years ago my husband and I decided we had not gone on a vacation for a while so why not plan two vacations. In October we went on a 7-day cruise in December we spent a week in the French Quarter and by February, none of my clothes fit. I had been so busy I had not even noticed the extra pounds I had put on they became very apparent to me when I took a good look in the mirror. I mentioned it to my husband and friends who of course replied, ‘Well we didn’t want to say anything…but’. I knew something had to be done and diets did not work for me so I was going to have to find my own way to lose the extra pounds.
As someone who had never really maintained a regular exercise routine, I decided exercise was the best place to start. I began instead of just letting the dog out to do her business actually putting her leash on and going for a full walk through the neighborhood at least once a day. I limited my sweet treats but did not cut them out completely we lead busy lives a little sugar is required, especially at times in the form of a fruity alcoholic beverage. I also learned that all the foods I took the time to fry could be baked and not only did it not take as much of my time and attention it allowed me to prepare a more healthy still appetizing meal quicker. I loved eating healthier but I still had what I wanted as well just on a limited basis after all what good is a steak without a baked potato. After a couple months of these activities I was feeling a lot better about myself and could see some changes in my waistline I decided it was time to kick my exercise up a notch. I found a gym by my house that allowed you to pay by the month with no contracts I immediately paid for 2 months. I made the time morning or night to spend 1 hour in the gym 3 days a week sometimes I would do a very light workout and sometimes a more strenuous one but I definitely felt the difference.

When my 2 months were up, I did what I believe is the best thing; I bought a Wii Fit. I am amazed at the workouts I am able to get on the Wii Fit. I feel constantly challenged by it to perform the different yoga and strength training exercises. Even after my 2 months at the gym I was never more aware of my posture and core muscles untill I began working on the Wii Fit. The Wii Fit also keeps track of my weight which some days is a good thing and some days not so good. Through little changes to my diet, a couple months spent at the gym and the use of my Wii Fit I have not only dropped the extra 50 pounds and got back into my size 10’s but I lost a few more and now am in a size 8! I love my Wii Fit as much as I love my ice cream and now I know that if I stay on the one I can still enjoy the other.
